Over the summer and fall of 2019 I increasingly explored photojournalism in various forms.

A layout experiment: Roger Swain spoke of all things gardening

In the following piece, I combined reporting and photography as I created the layout, using Adobe InDesign for the first time.  It’s an experience I recommend for all writers: it will show you the material that editors and designers need to make a story work.  And as writers have had to increasingly rely on the internet and their own wiles, that knowledge is valuable.
